Get Organised - The Nursery & Little One's Bedroom

It’s that time of year where we start out with good intentions of getting our homes in order. Whether you’re looking to get organised or refresh certain parts of our homes, we all have a room or two that needs some help. With Spring just around the corner, we can at least start thinking and planning, if not the actual doing. Today, I thought I’d start with the Nursery/Little One’s Bedroom for those that have them. For those of you that don’t, I’ll be covering other rooms in our homes over the coming weeks so there’ll be no excuses ;)

Get Organised – The Nursery & Little One’s Bedroom

If you’re expecting a little one or are already trying to deal with the masses of paraphernalia that they tend to bring with them, there’s one thing you’ll learn fast and that is you can never have enough storage for the ensuing toys, clothes and nappies.  When they reach their teens you’ll be looking at a whole different ball game, believe me, three children later and I’ve definitely learnt the hard way!!

BOOKS

I say start them young with books and you’ll have them falling in love with them forever! From my own experience of 3 avid readers, there can be an issue with younger children’s books with their size/shape. Larger picture books are a nightmare on bookshelves as they don’t tend to fit neatly and end up poking out on their sides or not fitting at all!

Bloomingville Bookcase

Get Organised - The Nursery & Little One's Bedroom

BLOOMINGVILLE BOOKCASE – Eiichtendesign

This Bloomingville bookcase, which is actually a book box on legs, solves the larger book size issue and any safety concerns over vertical bookcases and little ones. It also makes it easier for them to choose books themselves and it’s a great way to start their own collection of books. It reminds me of the book boxes (albeit more tastefully decorated) in our local library. This type of book storage actually encourages your little darlings to interact with their books as the covers are easier to see. It’s available from Eiichten Design based in Germany, but they ship worldwide if you’re after one.

Of course, if you’re not into books it would still look cool for hiding away all those bulky plastic toys they somehow accumulate.

Good To Know: Price: £96.65 Dimensions: W 90cm x H 50cm D 30cM

Baa Baa Book Shelf

If you’re looking for a more playful piece that your child/children will interact with the Baa Baa Bookshelf by Rowen and Wren might be the one. It’d look just as good in the living room as it would in their bedroom.

Unlike the Bloomingville Bookcase which holds any sized books, this one is limited to smaller books only but it is a fun piece that might encourage them to read more!

Shelf Regal Schneckenform Bloomingville

Shelf Regal Schneckenform Bloomingville – Einrichten-design.co.uk

This shelf may have saved me from my daughter’s slimy finds of snails and worms from the garden when she was little. Thankfully at 19, she’s grown out of this stage as I was always had to put on a brave face when faced with her finds!! It may be your saviour too if you have like-minded children. It’s also a fun way to introduce a little bit of nature-inspired decorative shelving to your little one’s room. It’s a friendly one for sure.

Of course, it’s not only about the practical and functionality of children’s rooms either. You’ll want them to look good too. This adds a fun modern way to display those treasured gifts and precious mementoes. Its neutral colour should go with most decor too.
