5 OF THE BEST WALL SHELVES FOR SMALL SPACE LIVING

Wall shelves are great, aren’t they? They’re not only practical, they’re one of the easiest and best ways to perk up your walls and add some interest. So if you like to display and faff around, (and from the number of #shelfies on Instagram you do), you might want to consider putting some up.

Today, however, we are looking at wall shelves that are more than just a shelf. Dual functionality, as well as good looks, are important if space is tight. And as we know, using the vertical is the most sensible option. Floor space is freed up allowing for furniture and manoeuvrability.

MUUTO FOLDED SHELVES

5 OF THE BEST WALL SHELVES FOR SMALL SPACE LIVING

Available from Nest

I featured Muuto wall dots last week when we were sorting out our small hallways, and couldn’t resist featuring another of their great designs, the Folded Wall Shelf. These beauties can be used just about anywhere from kitchens, bedrooms to hallways. I’m loving their simplistic design and the fact that the folded metal creates pockets to store taller items such as notebooks or post. The hanging hooks use more of the vertical for keys and other paraphernalia, which for me would be great as I’m always losing them around the house.

90° LIGHT SHELF

Definitely in love with this design. The 90° Light Shelf just oozes some kerb appeal. This would be great as an alternative to a bedside table or how about above a desk. It’s available in 100% solid brass, 100% solid copper, matte black, architects grey, and matte white. The brass or copper would have a greater effect with light reflection creating a warm glow to a room. A warning though it is pricey at £299.95 (gulps), but hey it is a wall shelf AND a wall light. I think it’s worth it just for the lighting effect alone.

SHELFIE MODULAR SHELF

Available from Notonthehightstreet

Don’t you just love a wall shelf with endless possibilities? This Shelfie Modular shelf with its interchangeable hooks lets you not only hang up your t-towel but also your bike. You’ll need to decide where it’s going to be put when you buy it as you’ll need to choose from four options. The ‘Garage Pack’ includes two bike hooks and one coat hook. The ‘Hall pack’ includes two coat hooks and a key hook. The ‘Kitchen Pack’ includes one towel hook, an egg holder and a herb plant pot holder. The ‘Bathroom Pack’ includes a toothbrush holder, one towel hook and a soap dish.

Don’t despair if you can’t decide or maybe you need to mix and match, Griffin & Sinclair, are happy to help you out by getting in touch with them. It’s handmade in the UK using sustainably sourced solid oak.

PELICAN SHELVES

5 OF THE BEST WALL SHELVES FOR SMALL SPACE LIVING

Available from Clippings

The smallest of today’s wall shelves, the Pelican has hidden hooks on its underside. I like its geometric design which has been designed to look like a Pelican poised to take flight. Perfect for displaying and hanging (it has 2-3 concealed hooks dependent on the size you choose).   Handmade by traditional artisans in Spain’s Tierra de Pinares region, its available in 3 different sizes and 5 finishes.

Good To Know: Small: Depth, 15cmHeight 10cm Price  £59.41

ARMOURY INDUSTRIAL ROUND IRON MIRROR WITH SHELF

5 OF THE BEST WALL SHELVES FOR SMALL SPACE LIVING

Available from Alexanderandpearl

A friend of mine actually has two of these either sides of her fireplace in her family snug area, and I have to say they look fabulous. The circular form provides more of a statement to your walls, and with the mirrored back, does and will reflect light back beautifully into a room.  It does have an industrial vibe to it but easily works in a modern setting. On sale at the time or writing at £150.

Good To Know: Dimensions: H: 61 W: 61 D: 21.5cm

Until next time, thanks for stopping by!

Hands up, I’m a faffer!!!!! :D The only trouble is, I only have the time to faff en route from the bedroom to the laptop, or from the laptop to the bathroom, so I am a part-time faffer!!! I love shelves, as they give me an excuse to expand my eclectic range of heritage bits and pieces, the ones that I simply cannot live without!! Of course I need the nose hair trimmer that once belonged to a Victorian gentleman…I mean, please!!!!! :D Seriously, shelves are a godsend in my life, they bring a touch of order in my chaotic world. I am particularly in love with the 90 degree light shelf :) Another great post Maria :) xx
