Eco-Friendly & Vegan-Friendly Bedding - The Fine Bedding Company

Our awareness of plastic polluting our environment has reached a critical point this year and I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s been shocking to see. It’s even had my 9-year-old talking about it!  But as plastic continues to dominate our shopping aisles, for now, it’s good to know that our efforts at recycling are going into newly created household items. This brings us on to  The Fine Bedding Company who have introduced NIMBUS Pearl SMARTDOWN® duvet and pillows. They’re made from 100% recycled PET plastic bottles and are one of the latest innovations to use recycled plastic.

I don’t know about you, but as a family who avidly recycles its satisfying to discover new products being made from our waste that would otherwise be polluting our environment or landfill sites. Ready to find out more?

Using recycled post-consumer waste is NIMBUS’ new Pearl SMARTDOWN® duvet and pillows – filled with silky soft fibres 100% made from recycled PET plastic bottles.

Demand for lifestyle products using recycled plastic is growing and is at an all-time high. So if you’re looking to change your bedding now or in the future, NIMBUS new Pearl SMARTDOWN® duvet and pillows will not only benefit a good nights sleep, you’ll be ensuring that the plastic we use and recycle, is put to good use too.

Plastic bottles are the most commonly collected packaging type because they are easy to sort and can easily be recycled in the UK, where a far higher amount is used than in most countries because it is used as a milk container. (BBC)

The Manufacture

You’ll be pleased to know that the filling of this innovative bedding is manufactured in an eco-friendly way too in an ECO FACTORY.  66% of energy is saved and 54% fewer CO2 emissions are produced during the manufacturing process. The bedding also uses recycled PET not raw (virgin) materials in the production process.

The new NIMBUS Pearl SMARTDOWN® range is available from The Fine Bedding Company – a name synonymous with one of the highest quality goose down bedding collections on the market and one of the foremost innovators in synthetic filling.

You don’t have to worry about the quality and the functionality of this bedding either. The Fine Bedding Company assures us that you’ll get the same warmth, quality and sensation with the SMARTDOWN®  to the highest grade of Hungarian Goose down. With winter warmth and All Year, warmth options are available to choose from too.

It also boasts a 100% sustainably sourced 280 thread count cotton cover, delivering a deluxe feel and breathability to the duvet.  The production methods ensure even distribution and ultimate loft are achieved by blowing fibres into each cassette of the duvet so no lumps and bumps. And if that wasn’t enough, SMARTDOWN® products are hand-finished.

The price of the duvet starts from £129 and the matching Smartdown® pillows are also available and are priced at £45. And don’t worry if you live abroad they ship outside the UK.

Lifestyle Benefits

If you suffer from allergies, this is a great alternative to a down duvet and it’s machine washable which is great if you have kids.

What’s more, if you’re living a vegan lifestyle, and miss having feather and down bedding, this is a fab alternative/equivalent to snuggle up with.

You can find the NIMBUS Pearl SMARTDOWN® duvets and pillows online at

Not that you’ll probably need an incentive to recycle your plastic, but by doing just that and by buying products like the NIMBUS Pearl SMARTDOWN® duvet and pillows you’ll be pleased to note that for every ton of plastic that is recycled, about 6.4 meters of landfill space is saved and which hopefully helps stop the pollution elsewhere.

Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely weekend!

It actually looks like it’s a DIY bed using reclaimed timber. Pretty much like you may have seen with pallet beds. Both are eco friendly alternatives 🌿.
