Hello, readers old and new. As it’s a Wednesday that I am posting this, and for some of us the weekend can’t come fast enough, I thought I would treat us all to some lovely furniture eye candy. If you adore and appreciate great design, then you’re going to love today’s Design Crush – The Beetle Chair. Ready for some Beetle mania?
The Beetle Chair, By GamFratesi For Gubi.
You may have come across this elegant Beetle Chair when flicking through interior magazines such as Elle Decoration. And if you’re on Instagram this wonderful chair design is often seen poised beautifully in stylish home and work places. Don’t worry if you haven’t because today I have lots of Beetle eye candy for you.
The Designers
Designed in 2013, the Beetle Chair is the creation of Enrico Fratesi and Stone Gam (GamFratesi). Originally it was designed with a different base, and it’s prototype shown at a Danish exhibition called Mindcraft in 2012, where GamFratesi were approached by Gubi. The rest, as they say, is history and the Beetle Chair that we love today was born.
Beetle Chair Design
With a number of different upholstery choices available, this beautiful aesthetic chair fits in with most decor. The Green Velvet beauty version above is from The Conran Shop and is perfect for this year’s Green and continuing Velvet trends.
The chair is a combination of classic and contemporary lines combined with quality and craftsmanship which are the fundamental characteristics of the Gubi. An internationally acclaimed company, Gubi established itself in 1967 in Denmark. They produce iconic furniture and lighting that lends itself to an experimental design philosophy with new materials and forms. They are renowned for their eclectic collections from the past and new innovative designs which have timeless qualities to them. You might want to have a swoon and check out their website here or their Instagram account for more design eye candy.
Dynamic and comfortable, the design of The Beetle Chair makes it suitable for multiple environments whether it is in the home, workplace or social places, such as this gorgeous restaurant above.
