AD: For the means of this post I received the stool featured to showcase one of Sue Ryder’s latest affordable velvet furniture collection. Every purchase enables this incredibly worthy charity to help millions with end of life care.
Affordable On-Trend Velvet Furniture From Sue Ryder
There’s nothing like being able to update your home with affordable designs is there? Even more so if you’re a student on a budget or a first-time buyer. Or, you might find yourself in my shoes, with a daughter having returned home and having to accommodate the inordinate amount of stuff she required in her absence. Unfortunately for her, the departure lounge (aka the largest bedroom) has been taken over by the youngest son and he’s not going anywhere for the next ten years at least, I hope!
Sue Ryder Charity
You may recall that I have featured this wonderful charity before and I’m thrilled to be able to share with you their latest Velvet Furniture collections.
What’s great to know is that 100% of the profits Sue Ryder make from every purchase from their online shop goes towards the palliative, neurological and bereavement support. It’s a wonderful way to shop for your home knowing that you’ll be helping so many others in need.
Founded in 1953 by Sue Ryder, this charity that supports people with complex needs and life-threatening illnesses across the UK and internationally. It operates specialist palliative care centres, care centres for people with complex conditions, home care services and a growing number of community-based services.

Swoon-worthy Velvet Furniture
Sue Ryder has just introduced a range of on-trend velvet furniture that will help those of you seeking the luxe look on a budget. If that wasn’t enough each design is available in the latest colours from rose pinks, greens (my favourite) to cool greys for those that like a more neutral palette.
With a beautiful array of designs to suit most decor choices, there’s definitely something for everyone. I for one would be happy to incorporate at least a few of these in my own home. The sea green velvet pouffe is my favourite considering it has hidden storage, perfect for keeping the clutter at bay.
Velvet Hairpin Footstool
To show you just how fabulous one of their designs
Priced at £29.99, it’s an incredibly affordable piece to incorporate into your homes. And with ALL profits going towards the important work that Sue Ryder provides, you’ll be helping such a fantastic worthy charity too.
Available in Four Delicious Colourways…
There are four different colours to choose from and for the daughter’s bedroom, the grey was the perfect option.
Space Saving Design…
One of my all-time favourite versatile of designs is the humble stool. It’s such a great space saver which is perfect for the daughter’s bedroom which is on the small side.
As most stools go, it’s compact in design. But being small doesn’t mean it’s any less functional. It just allows you to be able to play with the space that you have or may not have.
With its robust contemporary hairpin legs, your eye travels and sees further, creating a sense of space which is always an option for smaller rooms. We’ve made similar choices with furniture for our bedroom. Opting for furniture pieces that are less imposing in their form also helps if you’re wanting a room to feel larger.
This stool easily hides away under a desk or dressing table area freeing up floor space for her to move around. It also works great as additional seating for when friends come over so they aren’t all piled on the bed or floor.
Add some Luxe
I’ve spoken in great detail before about the benefits of velvet in a previous post. And if you’ve been wanting to introduce it to your homes but haven’t had the budget to do so, you’ll be able to indulge in this ongoing trend and bring some luxury to even the smallest of rooms.
Velvet it has to be one of the most versatile textures you can introduce into your homes. It’s soft to touch, exudes comfort and style whilst being durable which makes it great for stand out furniture pieces.

No More Chair of Doom!
You may recall my mentioning the chair of doom aka the chair that inevitably becomes a clothes horse. It’s a particular problem when it comes to teen’s and indeed any bedroom space. The daughter, of course, had her very own chair of doom, her old desk chair. Now it’s been replaced with this nifty stool, we should be free of clothes clutter!
Not just for the bedroom…
I’ve styled this fab stool in the daughter’s bedroom but it would look just as great in a living room. It’s a particularly great piece if space is at a premium. Light enough to manoeuvre around a room and provide seating for unexpected guests. It also makes a handy side table. Of course, there’s also the putting up of the feet at the end of the day and I may just be tempted to pinch it for just that purpose.
Which furniture piece are you tempted by? It’d be great to hear from you.

Until next time, thanks as always for stopping by!

Well this is fascinating. I love the stools – a great idea. Plus my MIL was an area trainer for Sue Ryder back in the early 2000’s. It’s a very worthwhile charity.
Thanks Mary and how amazing that your MIL worked for Sue Ryder. Such an incredible charity!
I think my favourite would have to be the olive coloured stool with the gold trim! Love it!
I’ve got my eye on this particular stool Catherine as I adore the contrasting gold trim against the olive velvet.
