Having partied at the Amara Blog Awards on Wednesday night, my thoughts have to turned to future festivities that are just around the corner. And by festivities, I do mean Christmas!!
Yes, I know it may be a bit early to mention the C word, but when it comes to organising our homes, it can really pay off to get your act together now. There are, of course, the seating issues to consider for those extra guests, as well as finding somewhere to put up that one family member/friend because they’ve had one too many sherries. If you start planning now, I guarantee you’ll be patting yourselves on the back by how organised you’ve been rather than crying into your Christmas pudding!
BED IN A BOX – SPACE SAVING SAVIOUR BY LIVING IT UP
Today we are looking at a multifunctional piece of furniture I’ve discovered whilst doing a bit of browsing on the web. It might just come to your rescue with your seating and sleeping arrangements if not the cooking, cleaning and wrapping.
Admittedly, we are talking a bed for one here, but if you’re short on space or just need the flexibility that will provide you with the ability to cater for that one unexpected additional guest then, this may be for you.
Living It Up is an online furniture retailer established since 2005. They’ve recently introduced the Bed in A Box of which there are two versions of Alison (the buttoned version) and Milton.
Bed in A Box is basically a versatile piece of furniture that’ll definitely come in handy and, I hasten to add, (and trying not to sound like a dog advert), it’s not just for Christmas either…. rolling of eyes permitted.
We aren’t all fortunate enough to have a spare guest room and offering the sofa to sleep on isn’t always the nicest or the most practical solution.
What I love about the concept behind these two designs is that they combine an ottoman, table and bed. Perfect as a seat, coffee table or footstool by day and a sturdy spare bed at night that’s easily folded away. Guaranteeing your guest will feel welcomed and looked after.
ALISON BED IN A BOX
Functionality is always key to a successful design and this doesn’t falter with its pop-out mechanism which provides an effortless transformation from ottoman to fold out bed.
If you’re loving the Alison model above and aren’t overly keen (or haven’t as yet managed to convince your other half to update your homes with pink), there’s a good range of colours to choose from too. Personally, I’m smitten with the Pavilion teal.
There are also four different fabric types as well. Finch is particularly good if you’ve got children as it’s a durable strongly woven fabric and there’s also on trend velvet called Beaufort. Living It Up also offers stain guarding at an additional cost.
MILTON BED IN A BOX
The Milton Bed in a Box above offers a more minimalist approach to your furniture choices and would look great in a modern setting.
Both Bed in a Box designs are made from engineered hardwood frame ensuring longevity which is surrounded by a high-density foam and padded to ensure it retains its shape whilst providing comfort. The wooden feet (the only aspect I’m not overly keen on) are made from solid dark beech which is stained.
With free fabric samples on offer, you can check out the texture and colour to suit your home decor.
Living It Up have 10% off on both at the moment with the Alison Bed In A Box priced £504 usual price £560 and the Milton Bed In A Box £486 usual price £540. Click here for their website and more info,
Right, I’m off for some more coffee. Have a wonderful weekend my lovely readers and see you all next week!
Thanks, as always, for stopping by……

That’s an interesting one. I currently live in a one bedroomed flat!! It’s a good job the living room is huge as I have a permanently installed iron day bed at the rear of the room for when Simon comes to stay. This above would fit perfectly into my home and free up more space to add yet more ‘stuff’ to my living room :D xx
I like your thinking Amanda lol. Removing one item to get more in seems like a good plan to me ;D xx
Just purchased one it will live in the office /spare room slash snug
