AD: I received the Agatha Bouquet from Shida Preserved Flowers for the purposes of styling and showing how beautiful their longlasting flowers are in the home.
With our adoration of all things nature-inspired ever on the increase, I thought I’d introduce you to Shida Preserved Flowers. Not only are these naturally preserved flowers and foliage exquisite in every way, but they also provide you with long-lasting decor that is sustainable and longlasting. You might even be tempted to ditch the fresh/faux flowers all together!
Shida Preserved Flowers Sustainable Longlasting Home Decor
Shida Preserved Flowers was launched in 2018 by florist and founder Katherine Whitchurch. Turning her adoration of flowers and foliage into long-lasting, sustainable natural decor that offers a breath of fresh air when it comes to our homes.
From single stems to bouquets, Katherine has sourced the most beautiful flowers and foliage. She even offers a bespoke service if you’re looking for something more personalised.
Preserved flowers are real plants, expertly grown and harvested at their peak. A special preservation treatment replaces the sap with 100% plant-based glycerine and dyes. The cell structure of the plants is maintained, leaving them feeling soft and naturally beautiful.

100% Biodegradeable – Shida Preserved Flowers
We have always had a love affair with nature-inspired design for our homes and even more so in recent years. In particular with faux flowers and plants. But when you take a step back you have to question at what cost to our environment. Especially when it comes to disposing of them. One of the key elements that make Shida’s Preserved Flowers more favourable when it comes to introducing natural decor is that they’re 100% biodegradable and therefore a better alternative when it comes to our environment.
Shida flowers are harvested at the peak of their natural beauty. Each bloom is perfectly preserved to feel soft and retain their beautiful, freshly-cut appearance.

Reducing Your Carbon Footprint
Our carbon footprint is something that we tend to forget when buying for our homes or ourselves for that matter, myself included. So it’s good to remind ourselves from time to time so that we can make sure we are doing our bit for our environment. The waste and transportation costs alone are mindboggling for fresh cut-flowers and I can’t even begin to imagine how much damage faux might be doing to our environment.
It’s good to know that Shida’s preserved flowers provide longevity with a year or more’s worth of enjoyment. This not only helps to reduce waste and transportation but when they do reach their end of life, they’re 100% biodegradable too.
Maintenance Free – Shida Preserved Flowers
Fresh flowers may be perceived as a luxury when it comes to our homes and there’s a tendency to only buy them for key events, such as valentines, mothers day and other personable dates such as birthdays and anniversaries.
For me, flowers will always be my first love. Having lived and breathed everything floral over 15 years when I studied, trained and owned my own florist, flowers have a special place in my heart. I always have them in my home and adore how they mark the changes in seasons.
That said, they only offer you a mere glimpse of their beauty before they fade and you end up having to replace them. For some, their need for freshwater, cutting off stems, mindfulness of children and pets etc., can be less than appealing.
Opting for preserved flowers allows you to embrace these natural blooms and foliages without the hard work. Perfect for those of you that lead busy lives or for those that prefer to sit back and enjoy their floral displays.
The only care these flowers require are a little dusting by way of a hairdryer set on low and that’s it.
Money Saved!
Ok, this will probably only apply if you regularly spend on fresh flowers, but I’ve included it as I know I can spend at least £50 a month on replacing fading blooms. Opting for preserved flowers such as Shida’s will ultimately save you money in the long run. For one, you’ll be buying less as they have a year (if not more) lifespan. I’m planning on buying another bouquet and a few single stems and then mix them up to create different displays as and when I feel the need for a change.
No Restrictions
With no water to worry about, there are literally no restrictions as to where and how you display Shida’s preserved flowers. You might even want to consider changing up your faux/real plants and hang them around your home as they’re lightweight too!
Bouquets To Stems
The great thing with a bouquet is you can break down the stems to create individual displays. Whether you display them together or dot them around the home is entirely down to you. And because Shida’s flowers last a year or longer, you can play around with them to your heart’s content!
Shida Preserved Flowers No Matter What Your Style or Decor
Each of Shida’s bouquets is open to interpretation. From the vessel, you decide to use, to the whereabouts in your home you’d like to display them. You’re not restricted to watertight containers, so you can really experiment as to what you use and where.
Changing up what you put your flowers in can create a whole new look too.
Because they are real flowers/foliage that have been beautifully preserved, they make for great table centrepieces. They’re also are allergy-free, so if like us you have friends that are allergic to certain flowers, these preserved flowers offer you the opportunity to adorn your table/home without having to worry about your guests and their health.
Style Wherever You Want
Whilst fresh flowers can pose a problem with their need for water and subsequent challenges of watermarks/spillages, Shida’s preserved flowers take the worry out of where to put your flowers.
The only areas that Shida recommends avoiding are very high humid areas in your home. Which depending on your abode, maybe your bathroom.
Conveniently Delivered to Your Door
Shida bouquets offer a maintenance-free and sustainable solution to styling with flowers. Hand-tied arrangements or letterbox flowers, delivered worldwide, make the perfect gift or home accessory, lasting for a year or more.
Shida Preserved Flowers – Sustainable Longlasting Home Decor
Decorative, natural and sustainable design at it’s best, Shida’s preserved flowers allow you to sit back and enjoy. Just think no dead flowers or dirty water to deal with. These beautifully preserved flowers allow you to enjoy them not just for a week or two, but for a whole year ahead. Now that’s my kind of flower!
