She has taken her 1930’s house and given it a new lease of life in a creative and funfilled way. It’s certainly the perfect pick me up considering these uncertain times. So let’s venture out, albeit virtually, and take a look around this wonderful Glamourous, Colour and Pattern filled home of Cara Baker!
The Glamorous Colourful & Pattern Filled Home of Cara Baker
About…
Cara lives in Wolverhampton in the West Midlands with her husband Andy. They’re lucky enough to own their own building company, which has certainly helped with renovating their 1930’s detached house which they bought in 2013. They’ve completely gutted the property and are slowly transforming it into a unique and individual home one step at a time. I have to say it’s looking fantastic!
Cara’s love of all things interiors related is obvious from the outset and it’s no surprise that she extended this love affair to actually writing about it too. Cara set up a blog, sharing her interiors journey a couple of years ago. It really is inspiring so do go check it out by clicking here. There’s everything from updates to her home as well as useful DIY and interiors inspiration too!
Cara’s Style…
It’s all about Colour and Pattern!
Cara describes her style as eclectic, edgy and glam. She’s also a huge lover of colour and pattern that intermingles with her being a bit of a gold magpie. I personally love her confidence in both. Her home truly represents her personality; a lovely bubbly, super friendly and confident lady that’s not scared to follow her own choices and believe in herself. Something we could all aspire to in one-way shape or form don’t you think?
I’d describe my style as eclectic, edgy and glam. I’m a colour lover and gold magpie and working my way again through each room in my house, determined to show some love to the ceilings and vowing not to repaint them white!

And A Splash of Gold!
Gold elements abound throughout Cara’s home adding an air of luxury and glamour to even the most unexpected places. Including her gorgeous bathroom space.
DESIGN TIP: Metallic textures of any kind are definitely worth investing in no matter what your style. They can completely lift a space with their light-reflecting qualities whilst adding an air of sophisticated luxury to a room.
No Beige here!
Cara has a unique and individual style that just oozes personality and character. If there’s one thing to take away from today’s tour it’s to stay true to yourself by only having the things that bring you joy and what you love.
My mom’s interior style influenced me as I grew up. She often veered off the beaten track with her décor and came up with weird and wonderful ideas. This encouraged me to not be a sheep.

Making An Entrance!
Cara certainly knows how to make an entrance shine. Her inner porch and entrance hallway is most definitely the pattern and colour filled opening chapter to the rest of her home. It makes for a welcoming and inspiring space. Where most of us will ignore our entrances, you have to admire Cara’s effort to extend her decor choices to even the smallest of spaces. It’s something that I’ve written about before here if you want to seek more ways to update your hallways.
When you think of your home as an unread book, the hallway is the opening chapter. Just like any beginnings, first impressions can count.

Embracing The Fifth Wall With Cara…
I personally adore homes like Cara’s as they step away from the mainstream and allow you to take inspiration in all sorts of ways. Her creative streak when it comes to her decor choices is enough to get you pondering your own design schemes. I know I am.
There’s been a recent trend for embracing the fifth wall (the ceiling) which was something I wrote about before here. It really is a game-changer and really adds another dimension to any room. Cara has certainly ticked all the boxes with her inner porch. Rather than cover the whole ceiling Cara has used certain elements from the wallpaper to parts of the ceiling. It’s a great way to add interest without being overwhelming. Perfect for smaller spaces such as this.
An Amazing Living Room Revamp
Cara has also recently undertaken a full-on living room redesign. And it’s mind-blowingly gorgeous! You can actually follow this incredible journey in her saved stories on Instagram. Her use of colour and pattern here which includes the ceiling is incredibly inspiring don’t you think?!
Cara has cleverly utilised the same geometric pattern but in different colourways to create unity to each part of this living room space. From the fireplace recess to the ceiling and not forgetting the walls, Cara’s creativity it appears holds no boundaries. It’s by no means overwhelming as she has used visual balance when using her chosen colour palette and pattern choices which have been kept to a minimum. The accessories she has chosen also helps keep it from looking overstyled too by adding the unexpected such as the hair lamp.
I’m a budding yogi and a keen gardener, with a love for tropical plants. I used to work in Human Resources and before that at my local theatre. I’ve always gravitated towards anything crafty and creative from a young age, notching up various hobbies through the years and of course my love for interiors!

Her chosen colour palette of teal and soft pink is repeated throughout her decor and furniture, artwork and accessories. Creating a cohesive scheme that isn’t too matchy matchy. And last but not least is Cara’s fabulous textural choices that also add another dimension to this room which includes those gold metallic touches that she adores. It’s a totally unique eclectic living room that has all the feels. The lush greenery also helps break up the room and adds natural architectural qualities that soften the lines of the geometric pattern.
DESIGN TIP: Geometric patterns help create a visual sense of space as your eye is drawn outwards. Perfect for smaller living spaces. Cara has repeated its use throughout her living room including the rug and upcycled sideboard. It’s also important to soften the overall look when using these angular shapes/patterns with softer forms in the room such as furniture soft furnishings and accessories.
Cara even gave her fabulous kitchen a little makeover too. Introducing the geometric wallpaper to the beams and upcycling her dining table with the same geometric pattern. Running the same colour palette through to this space from her newly decorated living room helps create a sense of cohesiveness too.
DESIGN TIP: Use one or two chosen elements throughout your home to help it flow from one space to another. Think, colour and/or pattern.
I look for inspiration wherever I go or whatever I’m doing, be it travelling, whilst I’m watching TV or spending time outdoors. Instagram is also a massive inspiration to me as I’ve always loved noseying around other people’s homes!

The Glamorous Colourful & Pattern Filled Home of Cara Baker
I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s house tour. I know I had fun writing it and it’s been a welcome distraction away from all that is going on in the world right now. I’ll be continuing to write as and when I am able to to keep a little bit of sanity whilst I attempt homeschooling with my in-betweenie teen huffing and grunting around the house. It’s not always going to be plain sailing but in truth, maybe we all needed to take a step away from our busy lives and slow down to appreciate the smaller things life has to offer us. We just need a level of acceptance to get us through this unprecedented time.
Oh and don’t forget you can continue to follow Cara’s amazing interiors journey both on Instagram here and why not sign up to her blog here. There’s also the chance to have your home featured over on Instagram by following the wonderful @eclectially_made crew here.
Until next time, stay safe and healthy! Just stay home!!
