As much as we have fallen in love with the ideology of displaying carefully curated pieces that we love and admire in the form of a shelfie, there is the everyday clutter that needs to be addressed. Whether you’re starting out or have a growing family, finding places to hide away unsightly paraphernalia is key to a happy and, dare I say it, organised home.
Practical & Versatile Locker Design by Mustard
You really can’t beat a piece of well-designed storage to help keep everything tidy and organised so I felt it only right to let you know about Mustard and their practical and smart locker designs. But first a little about this sister run brand….
Mustard happens to be the brainchild of two sisters Becca and Jess who live on opposite sides of the world. Jess is here in the UK, the Becca in Australia. Their joint passion for lockers old and new sparked the concept of setting up their own brand of lockers and after much researching, brainstorming and finding a manufacturer, they finally bought their vision to life. They eventually got to show off their locker designs at a Sydney trade show and Mustard was born. And no you don’t have to move to Australia as they have now bought their locker designs to the UK, although now the weathers changing, it wouldn’t be a bad idea.
It’s All In The Detail!
So what makes Mustard’s locker designs great? As with any great design it happens to be in the detail!
First up they’re 100% magnetic! Which makes them useful for sticking postcards, photos and to-do lists literally anywhere on the locker!
Inside the door, there is a ‘Emma’ hook to hang things (one in The Shorty, two in The Skinny). Perfect for a little mirror, headphones a photo frame or notebooks and reminders.
Every locker arrives flat packed. And before you start thinking Ikea, don’t! They are easy to put together! And if you don’t believe me watch their how-to videos here!
You only need to screw in two screws for the handle as everything else slots, clicks and locks into place. So you’ll be up and running in no time at all. Great for people like me who can be incredibly impatient! Oh, and every locker comes with a matching key ring.
Mustard’s lockers are as practical, functional and good-looking!
The sisters have taken inspiration from the Art Deco era for their locker designs when it comes to colour choices. And, of course, the yellow Mustard colour in their range has been in the spotlight this year. As a brand with colour at its core, it’s a fitting name.
There are 6 versatile colours to choose from which may not seem that many at first glance. However, the colours that they have chosen for their lockers work really well with today’s current decor choices. From girl bosses who need to have some blush pink in their lives to those that delve into darker decor choices, everyone is catered for. And if you can’t decide you could always team up colour combinations such as olive and white for a fresh look that will feed the botanical lovers amongst you.
What’s great about investing in locker storage is that you don’t have to worry about them going out of fashion and they’re affordable too. Mustard has two designs to choose from to suit a whole array of storage requirements.
There are two sizes to choose from. First up you have the tall and Skinny version.
The Skinny is Mustard’s signature piece. A tall slender number that has a lot to offer your homes and storage requirements.
Stand-alone or pair them up, the Skinny is great for using the vertical especially if space is limited. Inside you’ll find a removable hanging rail, four adjustable shelves, two handy hooks, cable hole, safety wall screw holes. On the outside, there’s a handle, a lock that comes with a custom key ring and air vents as well as the Mustard’s cool looking logo.
Good To Know: Height 183cm, Width 35cm, Depth 46cm Price: £199.00
The Shorty Locker makes itself at home tucked neatly next to your desk, snuggled up next to your lounge or sitting beside your bed. Being short does have its advantages as this design also provides you with an additional surface area to style things up or just somewhere for you to put a cuppa.
Inside you’ll find two adjustable shelves, one handy hook, cable hole, safety wall screw holes. On the outside as with the Skinny, there’s a handle, lock, custom keyring, mustard logo, air vents.
Good To Know: Height 72cm, Width 35cm Depth 46cm Price: £129
Of course, you want to keep everything neat and tidy inside so Mustard has also designed a set of baskets for all your bits and bobs.
Designed to fit perfectly inside your locker just right. The big one fits one per shelf and the two smaller ones can fit on one shelf. They also fit under the locker or on top for when you really need to maximise the storage!

Useful Storage Ideas
Perfect For Small Space Living
When we visually see clearer spaces, we see more of the room and not the paraphernalia that goes with the normality of everyday life.
What’s great about these Mustard lockers is that they don’t actually take up too much room and if you opt for a taller design you’re making the most of the vertical in smaller living spaces.
These lockers may not be large in size but they do pack a punch when it comes to providing versatile storage that works well in all areas of the home. Where you decide to place them will determine what you store and how you’ll use them.
I wrote a whole post on Alternative bedsides way back when I first started this blog and Mustards shortie lockers would be perfect as a bedside unit.
Lockers enable you to store everything out of sight from your reading material to your lotions and potions. And they provide enough surface area on top for a lamp and your current reading material or just style them up.
No matter how small or big they get, children need as much storage as you can achieve in their bedroom spaces and if they’re lucky enough, playrooms. These Mustard locker designs are the perfect choice to consider for your little one’s rooms.
These lockers are great for adding a splash of colour whilst adding essential storage. And you don’t need to worry about safety as they have safety wall screw holes to attach them to the wall to prevent any accidents.
What’s great about these locker designs is that you won’t have to update your kid’s storage as they get older. Which will, in the long run, save you time, money and effort.
Incorporating storage that’s durable as well as being able to grow with their needs is something you might want to consider too.
Even the smallest of hallways, ours included, would manage to fit in at least one of these locker designs.
If you’re fortunate to have a larger entrance hall you could even set up one for each family member.
There’s nothing like being organised no matter how large or small your home office is. That may mean additional storage for all those unsightly but necessary stationery pieces and paperwork.
The addition of being able to lock items away in your home office is also reassuring especially when it comes to keeping things safe including your little ones if their prone to wandering in.
As someone who somehow manages to have accumulated a lot of paperwork, magazines and brochures, my current storage is bulging at the seams! So I’m seriously considering one for my office with only the question being which colour to go for!
I like the fact that Mustard’s lockers have shelves inside to help compartmentalise and of course, the baskets are a wonderful touch too!
It seems we can never have enough storage in our bathroom spaces. It always amazes me how much stuff we have to store in our bathroom spaces from towels to our stash of toiletries.
If you haven’t considered a locker before this may be one space to implement some functional storage.
Alternative Kitchen Storage
A great alternative to built-in kitchen units and cupboards, lockers would make a real statement in your kitchen areas. Adding a modern upbeat feel to them and, dare I say, a lot cheaper!
And lastly, a thought for all you crafters and wannabe artists. These Mustard lockers would work a treat in your work/craft rooms. Easy to keep clean too so you won’t have to worry about making a mess. And just think how much you could store!
If you’re won over by these fab locker designs, as I have, you can check out Mustards online shop here where you can preorder for delivery early October.
Right, I’m off to put my feet up after having spent an incredible couple of full on days at London Design Week.
Have a great weekend and thanks as, always for stopping by!
