Happy Friday! I hope you’ve had a good week. Fridays are always a good day to do a bit of feel-good virtual shopping don’t you think? Whether it’s to add to a growing list of needs, wants or finding new things to swoon over, so I thought we’d head on over to Ragged Rose to add some wonderful colour to your day.
I first came across Ragged Rose whilst researching my Big Velvet Home Trend post and featured one of their gorgeous Arabella cushions. I instantly fell in love with their opulent and vibrantly coloured soft furnishings. There’s nothing quite like colour and texture to add an air of exuberance, comfort and style to our homes and what’s more they’re affordable too. I felt it only fitting to share with you this up and coming small UK independent brand and spread the word.
Ragged Rose – Opulent & Vibrant Soft Furnishings
As someone who is ever so slightly obsessed (ok very obsessed) with texture in the home and the benefits thereof, soft furnishings by way of cushions and throws are one of the easiest ways to implement some wonderful tactile qualities. They’re also brilliant at introducing pops of colour and are a relatively inexpensive way to update a room. Ragged Rose certainly hits the mark with both as the choices available are simply divine. From subtle pinks and soft greys to the more vibrant yellows, oranges and reds. Oh and not forgetting on-trend teal and my favourite green. But first, let me introduce you to the founder behind this colourful interiors gem that is growing to be one to watch when it comes to our homes.
About
Ragged Rose was founded by Dawn Rose, in 2011 and was born out of Dawn’s desire to create a signature collection of pretty and practical, affordable gifts and soft furnishings. Dawn has based her collection on her passion for beautiful flowers on a hot summer’s day and has a love for strong, vibrant colour. The brand has now evolved and has established itself in the marketplace and is expanding to overseas markets with new products.
With a strong background in fashion, textiles and manufacturing Dawn has had a wealth of experience travelling the world sourcing new products. When one of her suppliers approached her about setting up her own brand, Dawn leapt at the opportunity and put her creativity to use which brought about her collection of homewares and gifts. Today I’m focusing on a few of Dawn’s fabulous range of cushions and throws most of which are made here in the UK. Ready to do a bit of virtual shopping with me?….
The inspiration for Ragged Rose stems from my garden summer-house in the heart of the gorgeous Kent countryside. Central to the brand is my passion for beautiful country garden flowers on a hot summer’s day, combined with a love of strong, bold, vibrant colour. (Dawn Rose)
Glorious Cushions
Warning!! If you’re a cushion addict you may want to look away now as Ragged Rose has a huge selection of cushions in rich and diverse colours that literally make you want to scoop them all up! I’ve selected a few of my favourites to show you but if you have the time, you can see more here.
I personally love the attention to detail of Ragged Rose’s velvet cushions. From tassels to pompoms, I love a design that adds movement as it encourages you to interact and touches the senses. It makes them rather special don’t you think? These oblong Terry Tassel cushions above would make a gorgeous addition to a chair or bed. Pair with contrasting textures such as linen or wool to enhance their velvety surface. Or use the reverse to create a different look as it’s designed with a matching plain weave cotton. Two for one looks on the styling front and which makes them great value at £30 each. They measure 35cm x 50cm and are trimmed either side with matching cotton tassels.
If I had to choose, I’d have to grab one or two of Ragged Roses Arabella pompom cushions which are available in two sizes. The hardest part would be deciding which colour as there are 14 to choose from! I’m drawn to the soft dusky pink (above) and I just adore those pretty little pompoms. They’re made to order in the UK so delivery can take up to 7-10 days, but I think you’ll agree they’d be worth the wait.
As with the Terry Tassel velvet cushions above, these are made from 100% cotton velvet pile fabric so it’s advised to dry clean only. Size 50cm x 50cm (20 inches square) Price: £35 and 35 x 50 cms pillow shape Price: £28
Also if you like to ensure colours match your decor, you can request a swatch just drop Ragged Rose an email and they’ll be happy to help.
Next up, we have one for those of you that love nature and in particular, butterflies. A photographic style image of the white cabbage butterfly known as the Pieridae from the Genus Pieris is printed on a vivid pink velvet which forms part of Ragged Roses Limited Edition collection made here in the UK. I’m loving the contrasting delicate blend of creamy whites and yellows of the butterfly against the standout fuschia pink background. It’s also one of their new modern square-shaped pillow size cushions which measure at 45cm x 45cm. And for when you want a completely different look, you can change it round as the reverse has a linen look hessian fabric in a deep beige tone. There are of course the tassels which add the finishing touch to this piece of cushion art. Price: £33
If you’re loving the new Art Deco/Nouveau styles that we’ve seen emerging over the past couple of years, then this Penny Blue Peacock Feather print velvet cushion would be perfect. It’s part of Ragged Rose’s new luxury limited edition teal velvet range made here in the UK. Beautiful on-trend shades of teal green, gold and petrol blue are portrayed through the printed peacock feathers on a sumptuous velvet background.
It’s also larger than your normal cushion at 60cms x 40cms so is sure to make a statement piece to a bedroom or living room areas. The reverse side has a cotton/viscose hessian style weave in a matching beige tone to match the print. Price: £40
Each of my hand painted style designs concentrates on one flower which is striking in appearance, for example a rose or anemone. This is then complemented by colour coordinating plains in luxury fabrics such as velvet, along with ragged stripes and small ditzy mini prints such as leaves or petals which unite the whole concept. (Dawn Rose)
Another new design which forms part of Ragged Roses’ summer blue collection is this gorgeous Petra Purple Pansy print cushion complete with tassels. It’s a delicate blend of blues, purples and green tones that are designed to stand out from the crowd. It would work well with those of you that have embraced this year’s Pantone Colour of The Year, UltraViolet. It’s printed both sides and measures up nicely at 45cms x 45cms. Price: £35
Delicious Throws
As someone who feels the cold all year round and has been known to be cradling a hot water bottle on a summer’s evening, I’m partial to a throw or two. I absolutely adore these Belinda throws that match the Arabella cushions although I’d probably mix up the styles and add a few different textures. They are perfect for adding a layer of tactile textural contrast to a bed or sofa.
Made from 100% cotton velvet pile and on the reverse contrasting 100% cotton poplin ensures that it will drape beautifully wherever you decide to place it. Again the pompom details are a beautiful additional feature of this luxurious throw and I’m as madly in love with it as I am the Arabella cushions. Again, there are a wonderful array of colours to choose from, 10 in fact. Price: £75
Outdoor Love
Why not give your gardens a little makeover with a sumptuous cushion or two from Ragged Rose. They have three designs to choose from ranging from these fabulous box cushions above which are the latest to hit their online store. They’re practical and versatile enough that they’d look great indoors for little ones or playdates. They even have a carry handle which would make them ideal for that romantic picnic in the park or a party on the beach. They’d also be great for those of you that glamp or go camping during the summer months.
I’m loving the contrasting colour combination of handle and button as they just add a little bit extra detail to these boxed garden cushions. Price: £35. As well as the garden box cushions, Ragged Rose also have a range of scatter cushions and circular seat pads. You can check out their full range of outdoor/garden cushions here.
Ragged Rose is fast becoming synonymous with colour for the home as well as a range of well thought out gifts. Dawn also hopes to launch her very own womenswear/loungewear range together with more home products such as wallpaper and furniture so be sure to watch this space. In the meantime, you can find more colourful ideas for your home here. Have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks, as always, for stopping by!
