When you combine a love of art with a love of pets and animals, you just know you’re on to a winner. Which is exactly what I did last Christmas when I ordered a pop cat print from Tipperleyhill. We absolutely love it as it makes for a fun piece in our cloakroom and also because she reminds us of our cheeky kitten Tabitha. And so with a massive 45% of the UK population owning pets, I thought you might like to take a look at the fabulous fun designs Tipperleyhill have on offer for yourself. And before any of you non-pet/animal lovers click away, they do create some amazing landscapes and other bespoke artwork too, which I’ve included in today’s post. You really are in for a treat!
Tipperleyhill – Pet Artists Extraordinaire
Affordable, fun and beautifully drawn and painted, these art/prints will provide your homes with unique artwork that you won’t find anywhere else! I mean just look at that doggy face above. It’s one that truly melts your heart and puts an instant smile on your face, doesn’t he?
Whilst Tipperleyhills art is totally unique, the actual creation and process are unique too as it’s done by not one but TWO artists! It would be rude of me not to introduce you to them because they’re genuinely really lovely people. Ready to meet them and be inspired……
Abi Tippetts and Roz Berkeley-Hill are the two super talented artists behind Tipperleyhill which also explains the name behind their work. Each piece of art is created between them in a sort of art consequences with each having a part to play. If you follow them on Instagram and watch their stories you can see their work unfold. It’s a truly fascinating process and one that I could watch for hours. When you see them working together they have a clear trust in each other and real synchronicity.
Their friendship began whilst working together at a textile design studio in New York and they grew to discover a mutual love of colour, pattern, illustration and the arts. Sometime later, on returning to England to have their families, Abi settled in Leicester and Roz in London. They worked out a plan to see each other more often which would enable them to explore their creativity together. Supporting and encouraging each other stops those creative blocks and moments of isolation, if they are not together they can share ideas and progress remotely and often post pieces to each other to work on.
With an ever-expanding print collection that includes over 30 different animals in various outfits and with an option of a personalised message or quote, there’s literally something for everyone.
Abi illustrates the animals in black ink and Roz adds the pattern and colour to their clothes. Each giclée print can be personalised by hand with your choice of phrase; from aspirational quotes for kids bedrooms to cheeky, sometimes sweary ones for the adults. I chose the quote for our pop cat print as it’s a favourite of our youngest sons from the Home Alone movies and seemed apt for our cloakroom and always puts a smile on our visitors’ faces. Of course, you can order the prints without writing, the choice is yours to make and a lovely one at that.
Personalised Pet Portraits
If you’re after a portrait of your pet and crave something truly original, then Abi and Roz are your answer. No animal or outfit request is too outlandish. I love how they capture the character of the pet in question and of course their outfits.
They’ve had the likes of a horse in a fairy dress to a cat dressed as a dentist and one as a builder, to a cockerpoo wearing a kipper tie and 70’s shirt! I love that you can really have fun and Tipperleyhill will create something that is truly personal and bespoke for you or a friend or family member for that matter. The only limitation is your imagination so I say heck go wild and have some fun! Afterall, putting a smile on yours and others is a truly wonderful gift don’t you think?!
Large Scale Canvasses
Abi and Roz are no strangers to much larger scale canvases; combining their individual style and flair to create splashy florals, dreamy landscapes and vivid abstracts. Both artists work on each piece at the same time, layering up mixed media and using different paint techniques, in a unique way of creating; calling these “art jam sessions”. They’ve kindly shared some of their work with me so you can see how beautiful these art pieces are.
This fabulous duo love collaborating with interior designers on projects to create the perfect painting for a room scheme. If your living room is Cornforth white and you have a mustard sofa, they are the artists to bring a scheme together and create that focal point. Their mission is to encourage the addition of colour and fun to a space with art which they certainly achieve. So if you’re looking for a truly bespoke piece to inject colour into your homes, you might want to consider Tipperleyhill for that something truly different.
Where to Buy
Apart from ordering online or through Instagram (which is how I ordered my print), you can see their work in a growing list of shops and galleries around the UK. These include Hilary and Flo in Sheffield, Chirpy Store in Leeds, Push the Boat Out in Putney, Moy Mackay Gallery in Peebles, Bridie Grace Designs in Leicestershire, Mimi V Artworks in Balham, Wistow Gallery in Leicester and a new store called Botanical Home in Whitton in Twickenham.
I really hope you’ve enjoyed seeing some of Tipperleyhills work and hope that you check out the rest of their designs as there’s so much more to see.
Have a great weekend and thanks as always for stopping by!
P.S: This post is not sponsored, I just genuinely love Tipperleyhill’s art and wanted to share and support their small business.
