Yikes somehow we’ve arrived at Friday again. With the weekend inviting us to sit back and relax, it’s a chance for us to take five, breathe, and recap before starting all over again on Monday. But first, a little inspiring design post for you today.
The Copenhanger – Vertical Storage Solution
I’m forever on the look out for innovative designs that are not only functional, but also provide us with good-looking pieces for our homes. I’m sharing the Copenhanger with you today, as it fits both function, and form in a pleasing minimalistic approach to its design.
THE DESIGNERS
The Copenhanger has been designed with small space living in mind by Danish designers Lise Vilslev and Mathilde Møberg. The concept of the Copenhanger came about from the lack of space in the Danish capital, of Copenhagen. Here in the UK, we’re struggling with similar issues of space as our new build properties are becoming increasingly smaller. It might be the award-winning Copenhanger is just what you are looking for.
THE DESIGN
This suspended ceiling design utilises the vertical, which is always helpful in small/tight spaces. If you have particularly high ceilings, you’ll be in luck as it is supplied with two metres of 5mm thick leather cord to suspend the Copenhanger from. There are eleven pegs in total, (each 5.5 cm long) that spiral harmoniously down an 85cm pole. Plenty of room for hanging a whole host of paraphernalia. What I love about this floating hanger is floor and wall space is freed up. We don’t tend to put the fifth wall (the ceiling) to work as much as we could in our homes so its great that this design does.
There are a number of stockists here in the UK, and as far as Australia. Thankfully, there are four wood choices to choose from. More than four choices, and there’s a tendency of indecisiveness, especially when it involves the OH’s. Available in natural oak, black oak, oak white and beech petrol blue shown above,
A smart design for slim spaces, it’ll look good in any space, including the little ones bedroom/play space. Although, you might want to make sure they don’t pretend they’re Tarzan and end up swinging from it.
On a final note, if like me, you like to buy with the environment in mind, you’ll be glad to know that the Copenhanger is made from FSC-certified wood.
I’m thinking the Copenhanger could be a design classic of the future…. what do you think?
That’s all from me this week. Have a wonderful weekend wherever you are!
Thanks for stopping by……
