Whether you’re starting out or have a growing family, finding places to hide away unsightly paraphernalia is key to a happy and, dare I say it, organised home.

You really can’t beat a piece of well-designed storage to help keep everything tidy and organised so I felt it only right to let you know about Mustard and their practical and smart locker designs. But first a little about this sister run brand….

About

Mustard happens to be the brainchild of two sisters Becca and Jess who live on opposite sides of the world. Jess is here in the UK, the Becca in Australia. Their joint passion for lockers old and new sparked the concept of setting up their own brand of lockers and after much researching, brainstorming and finding a manufacturer, they finally bought their vision to life. They eventually got to show off their locker designs at a Sydney trade show and Mustard was born. And no you don’t have to move to Australia as they have now bought their locker designs to the UK, although now the weathers changing, it wouldn’t be a bad idea.

 

It’s All In The Detail!

So what makes Mustard’s locker designs great? As with any great design it happens to be in the detail!

 

First up they’re 100% magnetic! Which makes them useful for sticking postcards, photos and to-do lists literally anywhere on the locker!

 

Inside the door, there is a ‘Emma’ hook to hang things (one in The Shorty, two in The Skinny). Perfect for a little mirror, headphones a photo frame or notebooks and reminders.

Every locker arrives flat packed. And before you start thinking Ikea, don’t! They are easy to put together! And if you don’t believe me watch their how-to videos here!

You only need to screw in two screws for the handle as everything else slots, clicks and locks into place. So you’ll be up and running in no time at all. Great for people like me who can be incredibly impatient! Oh, and every locker comes with a matching key ring.

Colours

The sisters have taken inspiration from the Art Deco era for their locker designs when it comes to colour choices. And, of course, the yellow Mustard colour in their range has been in the spotlight this year. As a brand with colour at its core, it’s a fitting name.

There are 6 versatile colours to choose from which may not seem that many at first glance. However, the colours that they have chosen for their lockers work really well with today’s current decor choices. From girl bosses who need to have some blush pink in their lives to those that delve into darker decor choices, everyone is catered for. And if you can’t decide you could always team up colour combinations such as olive and white for a fresh look that will feed the botanical lovers amongst you.

 

The Designs

What’s great about investing in locker storage is that you don’t have to worry about them going out of fashion and they’re affordable too. Mustard has two designs to choose from to suit a whole array of storage requirements.

 

The Skinny

There are two sizes to choose from. First up you have the tall and Skinny version.

The Skinny is Mustard’s signature piece. A tall slender number that has a lot to offer your homes and storage requirements.

Stand-alone or pair them up, the Skinny is great for using the vertical especially if space is limited. Inside you’ll find a removable hanging rail, four adjustable shelves, two handy hooks, cable hole, safety wall screw holes. On the outside, there’s a handle, a lock that comes with a custom key ring and air vents as well as the Mustard’s cool looking logo.

The Shorty

The Shorty Locker makes itself at home tucked neatly next to your desk, snuggled up next to your lounge or sitting beside your bed. Being short does have its advantages as this design also provides you with an additional surface area to style things up or just somewhere for you to put a cuppa.

Inside you’ll find two adjustable shelves, one handy hook, cable hole, safety wall screw holes. On the outside as with the Skinny, there’s a handle, lock, custom keyring, mustard logo, air vents.

Baskets

Of course, you want to keep everything neat and tidy inside so Mustard has also designed a set of baskets for all your bits and bobs.

Designed to fit perfectly inside your locker just right. The big one fits one per shelf and the two smaller ones can fit on one shelf. They also fit under the locker or on top for when you really need to maximise the storage!

Useful Storage Ideas

Perfect For Small Space Living

When we visually see clearer spaces, we see more of the room and not the paraphernalia that goes with the normality of everyday life.

What’s great about these Mustard lockers is that they don’t actually take up too much room and if you opt for a taller design you’re making the most of the vertical in smaller living spaces.

 

Versatile Storage

These lockers may not be large in size but they do pack a punch when it comes to providing versatile storage that works well in all areas of the home. Where you decide to place them will determine what you store and how you’ll use them.

 

Alternative Bedside

I wrote a whole post on Alternative bedsides way back when I first started this blog and Mustards shortie lockers would be perfect as a bedside unit.

Lockers enable you to store everything out of sight from your reading material to your lotions and potions. And they provide enough surface area on top for a lamp and your current reading material or just style them up.

Children’s Rooms
