We’re looking at adding a difference with a totally unique collection of hand-decorated ceramics for your bathrooms/cloakrooms today. Although, if like us you have basins in your bedrooms, you might want to consider these beautiful new designs by Burlington for there as well.
We may not spend a huge amount of time in our bathrooms and or indeed our cloakrooms, but that’s not to say they shouldn’t reflect the rest of your home’s decor. Indeed your personality and choice of decor should be reflected throughout your home and the easiest way to achieve that is through colour and pattern. As a lover of both, Burlington’s Bespoke Collections instantly caught my eye as an alternative way to inject both into what really is an important functional room of our homes.
Unique Bespoke Traditional Bathroom Sanitary Ware by Burlington
White sanitaryware has long been for the mainstay for the majority of us choosing to update our bathrooms. That said, we’re becoming more accepting of colour and pattern in our homes, including our bathrooms and even more so for those with powder rooms/cloakrooms or less eloquently put the downstairs loo. It’s time to explore these spaces in more detail and add some individuality. And we’re not just talking walls and floors here.
Burlington Bespoke collections allow those functional bathroom pieces of sanitary ware to take centre stage rather than blend into the background. From subtle decorative designs to adding colour that packs a punch, Burlington really has something for everyone.

Burlington Decorated Collection Created in Collaboration with Julie Ingham
Burlington has created a unique ceramic’s collection alongside Julie Ingham a leading British illustrator and textile designer. Based in Sussex, Julie specialises in the creation of distinctive prints for homewares and fashion.
Each carefully curated collection is a celebration of the decorated and coloured ceramics of bygone eras. Each design draws inspiration from classic colour palettes, botanical design, architecture and vintage tableware.
The Decorated Collection – Burlington Bespoke
Probably my favourite out of the two collections that form Burlington’s Bespoke designs has to be their Decorative Collection. Each unique design is set across four distinctive categories: Art Deco, Floral, Favourite Places and Bespoke Lettering.
Each individual hand illustrated design by Julie Ingram is applied using highly trained ceramic lithographers onto selected basins and WC’s of this fascinating collection.
Art Deco – Burlington Decorative Collection
I adore Art Deco design. It adds an air of opulence, refined elegance and glamour to any space. The fact that Burlington has incorporated the unmistakable shapes and colours that were at the height of this era on to their ceramics is truly exciting. And if you’re lucky enough to live in a period property of this time, how amazing would it be to incorporate one of these designs into your bathrooms? Burlington’s Art Deco range is inspired by architecture and vintage tableware of this wonderful period.
Charleston – Art Deco – Burlington Decorative Collection
Burlington’s Charlston pattern is a play on the linear and geometric designs of the early modern art movement. Elegant fan-like display takes centre stage on Burlington’s ceramic basins adding a subtle monochrome detail.
Vienna – Art Deco – Burlington Decorative Collection
A slightly more daring design, Vienna adds a classic retro twist with colour and geometric shapes from the Art Deco era.
This design is inspired by the yellow ochre and black shades in vintage tableware bringing a playful nod of the roaring twenties into today’s bathroom.
Martinez – Art Deco – Burlington Decorative Collection
The truly beautiful organic hand-illustrated Martinez design will take your basins to a whole new heady height of luxury. Inspired by the iconic Martinez Hotel balcony in Cannes, this pattern fuses both linear and circular detailing, resulting in an exquisite and attention-grabbing decoration. The subtle incorporation of gold in this design adds a touch of luxury to your bathrooms.
Floral – Burlington Bespoke Decorative Collection
What better way to be in touch with mother nature than with these exquisite nature-inspired designs. Burlington’s Floral Collection ranges from bold and vibrant palms to delicate blossoms and greenery.
Botanical Pink
Vibrant and fun the Botanical Pink design adds a fun and playful twist on floral design. Hand-illustrated fuchsia palms contrast beautifully against Burlington’s crisp white ceramics. Add in gold finishes, the Botanical Pink pattern is a wonderful statement design for both bathrooms and cloakrooms alike.
Spring Forest
A more delicate detailed design, Spring Forest, is a delightful pattern of sweeeping green and grey foliage. Purposefully hand-drawn to look as though it has fallen randomly over the ceramic piece, it’s a beautiful design.
Spring Forest is ideal for adding detail to a small cloakroom or bathroom without being overwhelming.
Country Meadow
Soft blues, greens and neutral greys have been used to form a fresh loose botanical detail to Burlington’s Country Meadow design. The details and intricacies of this bespoke pattern complement the classic shapes of Burlington’s Edwardian basin design. A wonderful gentle hint of nature-inspired beauty for your bathroom.
Oriental Blossom
Hand-painted this watercolour floral design is a must for flower lovers. I love how this Oriental Blossom pattern flows across the basin. It features real gold intertwined with soft and transclucent colours.
An elegant timeless bespoke design. And is made even more special by the method of its application which is hand applied to each individual piece.
Favourite Places
Burlington’s Favourite Places collection is a celebration of selected City and Seascape landmarks. Each is presented across a selection of Burlington’s most popular Edwardian basins.
CityScape – Burlington Decorative Bespoke Collection
Iconic landmarks of Venice, London, New York and Paris in black and white hand-illustrated patterns make up Burlington’s Cityscape designs. A true celebration of our most coveted landmarks.
There’s a choice from London’s Big Ben to Venice’s Rialto Bridge. This capsule collection takes note of these much loved architectural structures. Suited to both city and country dwellings alike.
If like me, you live by the sea, you might well be tempted by this design. Perfect for pairing with crisp white linens and pale blue accents. Seascape is a traditional twist on the nautical style. Inspired by the classic blue and white porcelain sanitaryware and tableware, it’s a clean design. A reflection of the era and shape of Burlington’s basin with a direct nod to the vintage colour palette.
Bespoke Lettering
Or why not consider personalising your cloakrooms. Burlington’s Bespoke Lettering provides the ultimate opportunity for personalised bathroom design. There’s a choice of three typefaces. And can be customised in two places on the basin. From across the front edge or for a subtler option, under the overflow across selected sizes in the Edwardian basin collection.
Colours Collection – Burlington Bespoke
For those of you wishing to embrace colour on a more permanent basis (the average bathroom lifespan is 10 years) then Burlington’s Bespoke Colours Collection maybe the way forward. Adding a contemporary twist on traditional ceramics, these distinctive striking new coloured designs will add originality and the unexpected to your bathroom design. I personally say what’s not to love?!
Confetti Pink
Pink Confetti pays homage to the midcentury era with its rose-tinted hue and is perfect for adding a retro style nod to your bathrooms/cloakrooms. Pink has become such a favourable colour in our decor choices these past few years, that I can see this becoming an instant winner with many.
Not only does pink add a touch of femininity to a space but it also softens and visually lifts a room. Particularly great if your room errs on the dark side.
I’m also thinking this pretty Confetti Pink basin would look fantastic with whites and greens for a fresh updated look. Or maybe with an updated English Chintz look in a cottage setting… Either way it’s a versatile colour to work with and one that I am particularly drawn to myself.
Alaska Blue – Burlington Colours Collection
Alaska Blue offers a sophisticated twist on a classic vintage bathroom style. Considering blue is the most favoured colour across the western world, it’s sure to be a winner. Add in our association with water, Alaska Blue is the perfect choice for bathrooms, especially when paired with white.
Or go for a pared-back look and combine with say pink for a dreamy contemporary look.
Blue is not definitive of any particular era and has been in play for centuries so whatever your decorative style, blue has a place in your homes. It suits all styles from the traditional through to modern contemporary.

Moon Grey – Burlington Colours Collection
If you prefer a more subtle step away from white, then Moon Grey will probably be easier for those of you less ready to incorporate bolder colour choices. Neutral in colour it allows you to experiment with your decor choices or stick to a more monochrome palette.
This soft soothing grey provides a more sophisticated step towards updating your bathrooms for a timeless appeal.
Unique Bespoke Traditional Bathroom Sanitary Ware by Burlington
So which one is your favourite? I’m seriously considering the Botanical Pink and Oriental Blossom and maybe Meadown designs for our thatched cottage bedrooms.
